Kentucky Commissioner of Education Visits Gateway

On October 16, 2018, Dr. Wayne Lewis, Kentucky Commissioner of Education, visited Gateway Academy along with State Representative Walker Thomas and State Senator Whitney Westerfield.  In addition to a tour of all of the Gateway Academy programs, program highlights were shared with the visitors.   Watch this video.

  • 100% Graduation Rate
  • 97% of scholars enrolled went on to attend college, technical training programs, military, or find employment
  • 100% of scholars had measurable skills gain/literacy/numeracy gains (at least 2 grade level increase)
  • 40% of scholars in work-based learning experience were paired with co-op in chosen career pathway
  • Scholars attended financial literacy, resume writing, mock interviewing, positive social media, and career exploration workshops
  • Christian Co Public Schools has in-king match of $230,000 for the WIOA program
  • 12 different professional businesses mentor, host, and partner with WIOA scholars.  (Co-op businesses not included)
