Precautionary School Closure Information Due to COVID-19

Dear Gateway Families,

In an effort to keep everyone as healthy as possible, Governor Beshear has instituted a State of Emergency and has encouraged all Kentucky schools to close. Christian County Public Schools made the decision to close from March 16 to April 10. As of now, classes will resume on April 13, 2020.

NTI ~ Non Traditional Instruction ~ Gateway Academy teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing to keep instruction moving forward. Today in class, each teacher shared the plan for their specific class. Most classes will be using online resources such as Google Classroom, Khan Academy, Mastery Prep, Albert.io, and other course related programs. Any scholar who does not have Internet access was given paper packets to complete. Teachers will be available to scholars between the hours of 8:00 and 3:00 each school day.

Attendance and Assignments ~ for scholars to earn credit for attendance and assignments, all assignments must be turned in to their teacher upon return to school ~ April 13, 2020. Scholars working online can submit work as it is completed.  Teachers and Scholars are expected to be online between the hours of 8:00-3:00 each day. Teachers are available by text, phone, email, and Google Classroom. Teachers shared contact information with scholars during class on Friday, March 13.

It is the scholar's responsibility to check in with teachers and complete assignments ~ either digitally or paper copies. Failure to do so will result in poor grades and attendance.

Communication ~ for up-to-date information and announcements please use the following:

Extra Curricular Activities ~ all extra curricular activities are suspended until further notice

Meals ~ information about meal delivery and pick up will be shared by the home high school. However, meals will be available to scholars during this shutdown.

Encouragement ~ we encourage each Gateway scholar to take precautions to remain healthy during this health crisis. We also encourage each scholar to embrace the daily learning time and put 110% effort into assignments and projects. I look forward to seeing the amazing work and creations that are produced.

We will weather this storm together...Stay Safe!  Wash your Hands!! Find ways to be Innovative!! We look forward to seeing you on April 13th!
