COURSE: Fundamental of Machining A ,B. Applied Machining I, II. Into CAD. Industrial Safety. Basic Blueprint Reading.

TEXT: Fundamentals of Machine Technology and Manufacturing processes_

 

 

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This second semester course is applications in milling, lathe, bench work. And utilizing gauge blocks and sine bar are covered this course. Surface grinding and abrasives are introduced and properties of metal are discussed.

 

 

 

OBJECTIVES:   TASK LIST:   SKILL STANDARDS:

Have the students work alone or in groups on problem solving exercises.

Have student’s work and practice good safety.

Have student practice good shop management.

Have students review problem with Machines, analyze using the latest technology and equipment available, and determine the right method of repair.

Locate the damaged parts remove, clean and inspect as needed.

Reanalyze the problem to see if any other parts or systems have been affected.

Reinstall new or repaired parts as needed and check for proper operations

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ATTENDENCE

 

Attendance is very important as we will be covering new material daily. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to ask what you missed and you are to make up the missed work with in three days of your returning to class. (NO EXCEPTIONS). If you miss a test, you must have an excused absence and will be required to make up the test on the day of return. Days missed that hands on were preformed CAN NOT  be made up. If the absence is excused, missing hands on will not be counted against you.

 

 

SAFETY

 

The safety requirements for this program will be covered in general at the beginning of school for each class. Further safety instructions will be taught as needed per class.

 

GRADING POLICY

 

The following grading scale is in effect:

93-100-------------------------A

85-92--------------------------B

73-78--------------------------C

65-72--------------------------D

Below 64----------------------Failure

 

The following criteria will be used for arriving at a grade:

Lab Work (Dailey Exercises) ------------------50%

Written Test and Quizzes-----------------------30%

Final Exam-----------------------------------------20%

All assignments and Tasks must be completed in order to pass the class.

 

 

WRITTEN WORK POLICY

 

Written assignments should be typed if possible, but must be legible.

 

HOMEWORK POLICY.

 

All homework must be done and handed in on time. Should be typed but must be legible.

 

 

CHEATING POLICY

Will not be tolerated in any way, shape or fashion.

 

MAKE UP WORK POLICY

 

 

 

All work missed due to absences must be made up with in (3) days after returning to class. Test must be made up on the day you return to class. Quizzes and hands on cannot be made up. If absence is excused, Quizzes and Hands on will not be counted against you. Limit of (5) excused absences.

 

 

LATE WORK POLICY

 

You will receive a reduction of ten points a day for each day your assignment is past due. Excused absences will not count a reduction in points.

DROP/ADD POLICY

 

 

All requests to drop or add a class must be approved by the instructor and finalize by Mr. Hawkins. NO EXCECPTIONS!

SCHOOL CLOSERS

 

 

 

Classes will be cancelled according to the Christian County Schools Closer Plan.

 

 

 

 

CLASSROOM/SHOP RULES & PROCEDURES

 

 

Students will be provided a copy of classroom rules and procedures during initial orientation. Students and Parents must sign. NO SLEEPING OR HEAD LYING DOWN, NO EXECTPIONS! THERE WILL BE NO EATING OR DRINKING IN CLASS AT ANY TIME

 

 

CLASSROOM DRESS CODE

 

 

Will strictly follow the new Christian County School System Dress code. Also the proper shoe attire will be worn in the classroom at all times. Must have a leather shoe of some type, leather tennis shoe or a standard oxford or boot is required. No loose fitting jewelry or clothing allowed.

 

 

 

I have been oriented by Mr. Lewis on the above Syllabus. I completely understand all the materials listed above. I understand the policies and procedures of this school and agree to abide by them.
