Bio

I am a certified Family and Consumer Science teacher with over 12 years experience teaching courses in foods and nutrition and culinary arts.  I hold bachelors and master degrees from Murray State University in Vocational Education, Education/Technology and Mass Communication/Public Relations and Advertising.  In addition, I have trained professionally at the National Center for Hospitality Services at Sullivan University and Culinary Institute at Johnson and Wales.

During my professional career I have worked in the food and culinary industry as a private caterer and head chef at First United Methodist Church.  On a personal note, I have been cooking and entertaining all of my life starting with entering cooking contests and competitions as a 4-H member and continuing through high school and college.  I enjoy helping others learn to love to be creative in the kitchen and expand their knowledge of food, cooking techniques, nutrition and making positive lifestyle changes through culinary arts.

On a personal note, I am married, have three sons--James, Will and Lynn--and a Basset Hound named Flash.  I enjoy spending time not only in the kitchen but also outdoors on beautiful Lake Barkley.  I love to travel and try new restaurants to expand my culinary experience.
